I wake up and write a rhyme
Some say it’s a waste of my time
But the way it changes my mood
Makes it easy to live in the hood
I look for inspiration in my aspirations
Some try to tell me what I feel isn’t real
That reaching for the stars
Is like trying to live on mars
I just dismiss their negativity
People who choose not to dream
Follow the crowd and look where that has us now
Off at war
Making other’s hearts sore
All for this battle which we so desperately needed to implore
I would like to spread a message and the best way is rhyme
For not only has it past the test of time
It flows in order to show its reader the connection of words
Which in my flow instruct us not to follow one another in herds
Individuality is something intrinsic to the American dream
Then why does it seem
That so many drive the same SUV
Watch identical TV’s
And deem anything foreign as the epitome of quality
What’s wrong with our own American Ingenuity?
Have we lost our creativity?
To many it would seem…that indeed this is the case
For hasn’t every thing man made been replaced?
By the big metal machines which have replaced all we call green
I took a walk through the woods the other day
I was amazed by the paths we have made
All nicely covered in crushed stone
With particles I’m sure of our ancestor’s war torn bone
Its amazing isn’t it
That we fight but don’t live it
It’s such a sin to think how lazy we’ve become always wanting to sit
Never willing to take a hit
Saying if it’s green, it’s sticky and mean
And will make other’s deem you as crazy and obscene
Even though it was planted from one of God’s seeds
We are preached to on a daily basis about proper human behavior
Everyone thinks they are so socialized in their lea sure
Yet everyone puts on a mask
In how they act
Animal instincts are meant to followed
We are not as perfect as we like to think, in fact over time we have become hollowed
Do you choose to shallowly Follow?
